On Purpose Trauma-informed Care (OPTIC)

Hurtado Zimmerman SC has partnered with On Purpose Trauma-informed Care (OPTIC), a nonprofit organization established in 2021 in response to the rising mental health crisis facing our communities and the lack of resources that are currently available. OPTIC was established by Rachelle Coffey, a licensed clinical mental health counselor who specializes in trauma healing and prison reform. During 2020, Rachelle noticed that herself and many of her colleagues were running out of time and energy to care for the increasing need of community mental healthcare. OPTIC was formed with the understanding that as we educate our community members on how to cope and heal from toxic stress and trauma, we will begin to support each other and heal collectively to rebuild our communities from the hearts out.

The mission of OPTIC is to rebuild healthy communities by providing education, training and resources to our community members and healthcare professionals.
