National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling, disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body, causing a host of debilitating symptoms.

To help deal with this disease, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society provides a wide range of highly skilled, compassionate profession resources and support for individuals with MS and their families, including:

  • Information and education to help people with MS and their support teams powerfully advocate for what they need, when and how they need it
  • Emotional support resources for people with MS as well as family and carepartners, including support groups and ways to connect with others living with MS
  • Help through the complexities of finding a healthcare provider, benefits, insurance and access to coverage, and employment
  • Resources to face financial challenges and plan for the future
  • Wellness strategies that can make an impact on quality of life with MS including diet, exercise, emotional well-being and connection to local wellness resources
  • Assessment for personalized case management through the Edward M. Dowd Personal Advocate Program
  • Crisis intervention in times of need.

Attorneys and staff at Hurtado Zimmerman SC have been pleased to participate in raising funds for the MS Society for many years by participating in the annual Walk MS activities in Milwaukee, WI.  This fundraising walk brings together passionate people in communities nationwide to raise funds to change the world for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis.  With nearly 300,000 people fundraising and volunteering each year, Walk MS has generated more than $1 billion toward its mission to end MS forever.

Our firm is honored to participate in Team Summit, which has cumulatively raised well over $112,000 for Walk MS, one of the most successful individual MS walk teams in Wisconsin. By walking, raising funds and awareness, we have changed the lives of people with MS, helping fuel progress toward improved medical treatments and an ultimate goal of a world free of MS.

MS is different for everyone, cognitively and physically disabling, and that makes it all the more challenging to solve.   This annual Walk continues to make a difference in fighting a disease without a cure.  It works.  The money raised drives groundbreaking research, provides life-changing programs and guarantees a supportive community for those who need it most.

We walk until there is a cure!  Team Summit appreciates your generous support as we participate again this year in the MS Walk and fight against this insidious disease.  To help end MS, you can join us walking (or virtually walking!), or make pledges to the team or individual team members by clicking here.
